A window of hope for the children of Gaza amidst the siege and destruction, and the rise of a new sun in their sky.
In the midst of the siege and devastation faced by Gaza's children, the "Shorouq Educational Initiative" shines as a beacon of hope. Harnessing the power of the internet, it offers a lifeline of education, opening doors to learning despite the dire and challenging circumstances.
Our goal is to provide education across all subjects for students from grade one to grade twelve, striving to make up for the learning they have missed due to ongoing wars and the current crises.
Hand in hand, we rebuild Gaza...
Achievements of the Initiative So Far:
Initiative Goals
"Shorouq" aims to achieve several key objectives, foremost among them is rescuing the dreams of childhood lost to wars and conflicts. By providing quality education to children who have missed out on schooling, the initiative offers interactive online lessons to ensure continuity in their learning journey, skill development, and recovery of missed opportunities.
The initiative also strives to create equal educational opportunities for children in Gaza, granting them access to their curriculum, which includes core subjects such as Mathematics, Science, English, Arabic, and other essential courses, as well as extracurricular activities and additional languages.
Through this education, the team behind "Shorouq" hopes to minimize the impact of war on children, particularly by fostering a supportive and encouraging learning environment. This environment inspires creative thinking, perseverance, and the determination to succeed, helping children overcome the immense challenges they face.
The Role of Volunteer Teachers in the Initiative
Volunteer teachers play a crucial role in the success of the "Shorouq" Initiative. They are not only responsible for delivering lessons but also for creating an encouraging and supportive learning environment for the children. These teachers go beyond traditional education, providing emotional and psychological support, fostering resilience, and inspiring hope.
Their dedication helps ensure that children receive the attention and guidance they need, even in the face of adversity. Volunteer teachers also serve as mentors, offering personal encouragement and motivating students to stay engaged, pursue their dreams, and overcome the challenges posed by their circumstances. Through their work, these teachers become key agents of change, helping to rebuild the futures of these children and give them a renewed sense of purpose and possibility.
A Window to Connect with the Outside World
The "Shorouq" Initiative has also served as a vital window for these children to connect with the outside world. In a place where isolation and uncertainty often prevail, this initiative has bridged the gap by providing a platform where children can interact with educators and peers beyond their immediate surroundings. Through this connection, they gain exposure to new ideas, cultures, and perspectives, helping them to expand their horizons and feel a part of a global community that cares about their future.
The significant impact on children and teachers
This initiative has left a profound impact on the lives of children, not only by providing them with the opportunity to resume their education but also by reigniting hope in their hearts. These are children whose dreams were fading due to war, yet through the "Shorouq" Initiative, the sun of their dreams has risen once again. They now feel they have a renewed chance for the future, realizing that education can be a pathway to building a better life.
As for the volunteer teachers, they felt they had made a meaningful contribution, even if small, to the lives of these children. For them, the volunteering experience went beyond teaching—it was an opportunity to be part of a real change in the lives of those who desperately needed support.
Implementation Method of the Initiative
The initiative is executed by organizing live online lessons through interactive educational platforms, allowing children to engage with their teachers and peers in real-time. Additionally, the initiative provides recorded lessons for children who may be unable to attend live sessions due to internet disruptions or other challenges, ensuring continuous access to education for all.
"Shorouq" Voluntary Educational Initiative
It represents more than just an educational project; it is a tool for restoring hope and dignity to the children of Gaza. Through this initiative, children have been able to revive their academic dreams, while teachers have been able to offer both psychological support and education at times when they were most needed. The initiative has been a source of joy and reassurance, becoming a bridge that connects Gaza's children with the world. It proves that education can be a path to peace and security, even in the most challenging of circumstances.
